Lorraine Beverly Schipper, daughter of Jacob and Madalena (Hartmann) Schipper, was born on September 9, 1935 in Ben Clare, South Dakota. As a young child Lorraine moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota with her family. She grew up and attended Bancroft Elementary and Whittier Junior High. She graduated from Washington High School in 1953. Lorraine attended Nettleton Business College. After her schooling she was employed at KELO TV, Kresge Five & Ten Store, Ouuie's Grill and the Sport Bowl.

Lorraine was united in marriage with Henry Raaen on November 7, 1959 in Sioux Falls. The couple made their home at several locations in Sioux Falls before moving to rural Renner, South Dakota in 1964. In the 1970's Lorraine was employed at South More Nursing Home.

She was a member of Renner Lutheran Church where she taught Bible School in earlier years. Lorraine enjoyed tatting, knitting, quilting, puzzle books, music, gardening, and raising flowers.

Greatful for having shared her life are her husband, Henry Raaen, Renner; six children, Ken (Joan) Raaen, Lanesboro, Minnesota, Sandy (Ron) Batt, Topeka, Kansas, Jeff (Connie) Raaen, Huron, Loren (Sue) Raaen, Craig Raaen, and Lynette Rye, all of Sioux Falls; 14 grandchildren; one sister, Eleanor (Harley) Atwood, three brothers, Harold (Edith) Schipper, Burbank, California, Bob (Janice) Schipper, Fillmore, California, Willard (Erma) Schipper, Lufkin, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
