Son of Barbara Johanna (German) & William Peter Braun. He graduated from Humphrey High School in 1940 and went to work as a welder at the Philadelphia, PA Shipyard. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on October 3, 1940 and received his officer commission in Wilmington, NC in 1942. During his Army career, he was stationed in Indiana, Louisiana, Philippines, New York, Virginia, Germany, Delaware, Texas and Viet Nam. He received his BA degree from the University of Maryland. He retired from the Army as a Lt. Colonel in 1966 and became a vice president of Atlas Van Lines. He retired from Atlas in 1976 and sold real estate in Port Townsend, WA, where he lived. He enjoyed playing golf with his many friends and resided in Tucson, AZ at the time of his death. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Braun; sons Michael, David and Tim; daughters Beverly and Beth; two brothers Bill and Dick; three sisters Barbara Ann Braun, Dorothy Perry, and Flora Suing.
