Age 98. Preceded in death by parents, William and Barbara (German) Braun; wife of 76 years, Mona Margaret (Mitchell) Braun (deceased 2013); brothers, Ray, Eugene, and Richard; sisters, Chrissie Zuerlein, Stella Wilson, Leona Flesch, and Sr. Barbara Ann, OSF; granddaughter, Betsy Braun; and son-in-law, Bill Muckey. Survived by sisters, Flora Mae Suing, and Dorothy Perry; son, Richard Braun (Madonna); daughter, Sheri Muckey; grandchildren, Tracy McKillip (Blaine), Chris Braun (Lori), Barbara Brooks (Tom), Ted Muckey (Joyce), Mary Jo Barry (Greg), and Dave Muckey; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Bill graduated from North High School, where he was a State Champion in Wrestling. He operated service stations/garages in north Omaha for many, many years. During the war, he worked at the Bomber Plant, and during the 1940s and 1950s, he raced hydroplanes in the Midwest. Bill and Mona spent many happy retirement years at Woodcliff in Fremont, NE and in Mesa, AZ. He was an excellent golfer and loved to bowl, hunt, and fish. Bill never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who love him. VISITATION begins on Tuesday at 5pm, with VIGIL SERVICE to follow at 7pm, all at the West Center Chapel. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL on Wednesday at 10:30am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Interment, Calvary Cemetery.
