He was born December 30, 1912 in Matoon, Wisconsin and moved to Muncie in 1953. He was a Baptist Minister serving the Good Hope Baptist Church in Muncie. He also worked as an Iron Worker for Creviston Steel for many years and at one time was the owner of Aabe Construction in Muncie.
He is survived by five children, Sharon (husband, Dan) Hutcheson, Beverly (husband, Maurice) Masters, Charles R. (wife, Vicki Lynn) Bowen Jr., Jim (wife, Dorothy) Mullins, and Ben (wife, Fran) Mullins; sixteen grandchildren, William Palmer, David Palmer, Ann Brittingham, Tim Masters, Sean Masters, Ricky Bowen, Greg Bowen, Angela Smith, Shara Wahl, Jimmy Mullins, John Mullins, Joey Mullins, Janice Mills, Debbie Harper, Glenda Hamilton, Jean Ann Cogan; numerous great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren; also surviving are several nieces, nephews; and his dogs, Buddy and Diamond.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Goldie Ann (Steagall) Bowen; son, Conrad Mullins; two daughters, Dorothy Mae Bowen and Ann Palmer; twelve brothers and sisters also precede him.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor William Palmer officiating.
Visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home. Entombment will take place at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
