Tuesday, August 20, 1963

Mrs. Kitty POWELL, 70, died at 7 a.m. today in Woodlawn hospital of burns suffered Sunday morning when her dress caught fire from the kitchen oven at her home on R.R. 1, Akron.

Born Feb. 9, 1893, in Marshall county, she was the daughter of Mark and Angeline KAY BOWEN. Her marriage was in May, 1915, to Benjamin POWELL, who died last Feb. 11. She had spent her entire life in the Akron area. Mrs. Powell was a member of the Omega church and the Missionary society of that church.

Surviving are two sons, Boyd POWELL, R.R. 2, Macy, and Glen POWELL, Akron; a sister, Mrs. Mae IMLER, Akron; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Also, three half-brothers, Aaron BOWEN, Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; Orlando BOWEN, Elkhart, and Charles BOWEN, Muncie; and three half-sisters, Mrs. Beulah MULLER, Crandon, Wis., and Mrs. Enid KNOR and Mrs.Gladys FRITCH, Antigo, Wis.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Omega church with the Rev. Ronnie THOMPSON officiating. Burial will be in the Omega cemetery. Friends may call at the Haupert funeral home in Akron after 2 p.m. Wednesday until noon Thursday and at the church one hour before services.
