Howard Ley "Mort" Lasher, aged 76, of Riverside, California, formerly of Kittanning (Rural Valley, died on Monday, May the 2nd 2005 at his home where he has resided for the past 44 years. Howard was born on June the 5th 1928 in West Kittanning, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, the son of Audley Grant Lasher and Annalee Isabelle (Myers) Lasher. His father named him after his friend Howard Augustus Ley, a salesmen for Arbuthnot-Stephenson & Co., Dry Goods & Notions, who used to come to the Charley Thompson store in West Kittanning. Mr. Lasher was a bus driver for the Jurupa Unified School District, of Riverside, California. He is survived by his wife the former Martha Jean Schrecengost and the following children, Roberta Lee Johnson and her husband Doug of Kernville, California; Cheryl Lynn Safko and her husband James of Johnstown, Pennsylvania and William Howard Lasher and his wife Deborah of Catawba, North Carolina. Three grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers George in 1933 and Fred in 1972.
