LOWELLVILLE, Ohio – Fred Lasher, 47, of RD 1 Pulaski died this morning at home. A Complete obituary will appear tomorrow. Arrangements are being handled by the Cunningham Funeral Home in Lowellville.

Fred E. Lasher, 47-year-old former Kittanning area resident, died yesterday (10 a.m.) in a basement garage near his home on Coffee Run Road, Pulaski RD 1. Lawrence County coroner Howard Reynolds said death was the result of accidental asphyxiation from carbon monoxide fumes. The victim, it was reported, had been working on the air cleaner of his car in a closed garage. Mr. Lasher was a mechanic and bulldozer operator working out of a Youngstown, Ohio, local of the Operating Engineers Union. Prior to moving to Pulaski Township, Lawrence County, about 10 years ago, he had been a resident of the Kittanning area. He was a member of Lowellville, Ohio, Christian Church, and a veteran of 13 months service in the U.S. Army after World War II. Mr. Lasher was born Nov. 9, 1925 at West Kittanning, a son of Audley and Isabelle (Myers) Lasher. Mr. Lasher's first wife, the former Mary L. Smith whom he married Dec. 25,1948, died July 14, 1971. Surviving relatives are his mother, Mrs. Isabelle Lasher of Rural Valley; his wife, the former Mildred (Higgle) Zappia, whom he married July 20 this year; stepchildren Steven and Melda Zappia, both at home; a sister, Mrs. Fred (Dorothy) Ridenour of Rural Valley, and a brother, Howard L. Lasher in California. LASHER—Friends of Fred Earl Lasher, who died Dec. 14, 1972, are being received from 7 to 9 tonight at Cunningham Funeral Home, 244 McGill St., Lowellville, Ohio, and from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lowellville Christian Church, where the funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 by the pastor, the Rev. Owen D. Fitch. Friends will be received also at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Salem United (Hill) Church of Christ, Kittanning RD 5, where the committal service is scheduled at 3 p.m. Burial, in charge of Cunningham Funeral Home, will be in Salem UCC cemetery.

Mr. Lasher was a member of Lowellville Ohio Christian Church; a veteran of the U.S. Army, he served following World War II. He was married on Dec. 25, 1948 to the former Mary L. Smith, who died July 14, 1971. He married the former Mildred Higgle Zappia on July 20, of this year. He is survived by his wife. Friends will be received at the Lowellville Chapel of the Cunningham Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. today. A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow in Lowellville Christian Church by the Rev. Owen D. Fitch. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the service. The body will be taken to Kittanning where a Committal Service will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow in the Salem United Church of Christ (Hill Church), at Kittanning RD 5. Friends may call at the church from 2:30 p.m. until the 3 p.m. service. Burial will be in Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery. Kittanning RD 5.
