Lydia Mayer was born in Russia on November 17, 1866 with death on April 23, 1948, widow of Samual Mayer. Her father was Gottfried Schlechter and mother Elizabeth (Hoehn). Funeral services for Mrs. Lydia Mayer, 81, were held from the Odessa Baptist church with burial in the Odessa cemetery. She came to America at the age of 14, and had lived in this country for 67 years. She and her husband, Samual Mayer, former county commissioner, lived on a ranch north of Odessa. He died in 1917. She is survived by three sons, Richard, Arthur and Robert, three daughters, Mrs. Ida Frater, Mrs. Lilla Davis, and Mrs. Anna Reed. (portion of a newspaper obituary)
