Elisabeth Schlechter, nee Hoehn, daughter of Johann and Christina Hoehn, was born January 22, 1830 in Poland. First marriage, Jacob Blatt November 27, 1847, Bessarabia, Russia. Second marriage on November 20, 1859, Bessarabia, Russia to Gottfried Schlechter; immigrated in 1879 from Polotzk, Bessarabia to farm near Scotland, SD. Children from first marriage: 4; children from second marriage: 7 (one son and 6 daughters). She died on February 3, 1922 in Tripp, SD; buried on February 5, 1922 in Tripp. Survived by two children from first marriage and five children from second marriage (one son and four daughters).
Elizabeth Hoehn, married at age 16 to Mr. Blatt. Four daughters, Katrina, Christina, Maria and Sophia; these four remained in Poland, Romania. Mrs. Blatt left a widow, married Gottfried Schlechter. Gottfried and Elizabeth Schlechter and their seven children arrived at New York from Bremen, Germany on November 8, 1879 aboard the Neckar.
