Reuben "Ruff" Regan lived his entire life in Yorkville, being born there in 1887 and passing away there 83 years later in 1971 at the Hillside Nursing Home. He was preceded in death by his wife Clara Regan who died in 1919. The Regan side of the family was Irish, by way of New York. His mother's side of the family, the Finlayson clan, emigrated from Scotland to America in 1856, settling in Yorkville (Bristol), IL where there was a large Scottish farming community. Reuben was one of 8 children (4 boys and 4 girls), all except one (Mrs. Jeanette Kilmartin of Mendota, IL) of his siblings having preceded him in death. He was survived by one neice and one nephew. Reuben was a 50 year member of Kendall Lodge No. 471 A.F. & A.M.. He was employed by the Illinois Bell Telephone Company 42 years before he retired, He now rests at Elmwood Cemetery in Yorkville with his pioneer family.
