Youngest son of John B and Elizabeth Sigler Moore. Brother to Clara Moore Vosburgh (1861-1945), Martha Moore Murray (1863-1955), Giles C Moore (1865-1928), Clarence B Moore (1867-1943), Frederick Moore (1870-1947), Cornelia Moore Bates (1874-1967), Lillian Moore Baer (1876-1952) and Esther B Moore Poole (1878-1952). On Sept. 2, 1907 Garfield had married a woman from Ireland named Nora Foley in Manhattan, New York. According to the Pine Plains Register (Dec 20, 1907) on Dec. 17th, 1907, Garfield and his older brother Fred took their cousin William Shaver with them hunting in the woods near Tivoli. Garfield accidentally shot William in the back and they brought him to the Watts DePeyster Home, to the hospital area, but all efforts were not successful in saving his life.
According to the 1910 census there were two children born from this union. Only one daughter was listed living in the 1920 census... Ethel Theresa Moore Chickering (12/31/1910-2/25/1997), who resided with her Mother, Nora Moore and Nora's brother-in-law Giles Moore (boarder). Garfield had died in 1912. (Nora later married John Herman Feldhaus)
