Her Obit
Died on the 4th of January 1887, of measles and typhoid pneumonia, our sweet young sister, Sallie A. Peal. For a week or more, she was not considered in danger, but soon began to sink, and all the care of loving friends to keep her with them, was of no avail. She was an obedient, affectionate child – full of life and happiness. It was so hard to give her up – so hard, for hands that had ministered only love, to place the earth upon the just cold bosom and shut her out from the warm sunlight and sweet breath of heaven. You cannot but weep, Oh! Mother, Even now, the tears are freely flowing, that the golden bowl was so soon broken, the silver cord loosened. In after years, when time will have soothed your anguish, you will be thankful that your child turned early from the sorrows of earth – that all unblemished, earth gave up your treasure unto heaven. Will not this belief often lead you in spirit to that sweet home? Will it not be as a golden chain drawing you to the world where the wicked cease from troubling, and the weary are at rest.
