He was born March 22, 1933, son of Ethel Burton, Nancy, and the late Dewey Burton. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a retired highway contract route mail carrier.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Janie Crouch Burton, whom he married May 15, 1957; his mother; four sons, Otis Dewayne (and Rogene) Burton, Zachary "Buck" (and Trish) Burton and Rick Burton, all of Nancy, and Chris (and Lisa) Burton, Somerset; two daughters, Marlene (and Marc) Wilson and Jeanie Mays, both of Indiana; two stepsons, Doug (and Sharon) Crouch and Dennis (and Jackie) Crouch, both of Indiana; a brother, Sonny Burton, Nancy; four sisters, Geraldine Crouch, Burgin, Kathleen Spencer, Nancy, Eardeen Dunn, Nicholasville, and Fostine Keeney, Science Hill; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Othel Burton.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Morris and Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Edgar Ray officiating.
Burial will be in Mill Springs National Cemetery, Nancy, with military services by American Legion Post No. 38.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
