Came to Benton County, Missouri with parents in 1845.

Married Gesina Mahnken in Benton County in 1865 and moved to Colorado in 1874.

In 1985 a military marker was present with inscription:

Heisterberg, for thirty years a resident of this valley, passed away at his home in Silver Cliff at 10 o'clock Saturday evening, November 28, 1908, aged 65 years and 14 days.Mr. Heisterberg, when in good health, is remembered as a busy, industrious man. He was a devoted husband and kind parent, in fact was a good citizen in every respect.Besides the widow is is survived by four grown children, all married: Mrs. Harry Kettle of the valley; Mrs. Belmont and Mrs. Saxton of Denver, and Will Heisterberg of Salida.The funeral, largely attended, was held Tuesday forenoon, at 10:30 o'clock at the family residence on Broadway, after which the remains were followed to the Ula cemetery where interment took place.
