Elijah Colbert Died Suddenly In Oklahoma
Body Is Being Returned To Old Home In This County For Burial
A message received Monday at Mt. Zion brought the first news of the sudden death, in Oklahoma, of Elijah Colbert, son of the late Alonzo Colbert. He had been employed in Oklahoma for several years. The death message to his brother, Alva, living at Mt. Zion, did not give particulars, other than that he had died suddenly. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jessie Colbert, who notified the relatives in this county that the body was being returned to Indiana for burial.
The brother, Alva Roberts [sic Colbert], left Monday for St. Louis, to meet the funeral party, which will arrive in Warren this evening or early Wednesday morning.
The body is to be taken to the home of Mrs. Mahala Colbert, widowed mother of the deceased, at Mt. Zion, and funeral services will be held Thursday, but the exact hour had not been determined today when the News made inquiry.
Elijah Colbert, the deceased, had many friends in the vicinity of Mt. Zion, where he spent his early life. The immediate relatives surviving include his wife, mother, and brother named above.
