Died Of Consumption
Lon Colbert, Ex-trustee of Jackson Township, Passed Away Yesterday
Lon Colbert, ex-trustee of Jackson township and one of the best known men in the county, died at his home in Mount Zion yesterday afternoon of consumption. The funeral will be held at the United Brethren church there Wednesday at 10:30 and the Odd Fellows lodge will have charge.
Mr. Colbert was a native of Wells county and had spent most of his life in Jackson township. He was elected trustee of the township in 1895 and served four years. Shortly after retiring from the office he was taken ill with lung trouble and spent some time in California and Mexico in hope of regaining his health but his effort was fruitless. Since returning home he was unable to work though he was not confined to his bed. For several years he and his son owned a general store at Mount Zion. He was a member of the Mount Zion Odd Fellows lodge and of the Bluffton Camp. A wife and three grown sons are left to mourn his death.
