Jesse A. Pugh of Philomath died Thursday, March 5, at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was 76.
He was born in Brownsville, the son of William Marion and Anna Grace (Fields) Pugh. He was raised in Brownsville.
During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army Air Force's 1130th MP CO Aviation 5th Squadron.
He married Flora Mae Clark on Aug. 5, 1947, in Springfield and they raised a family of 13 children. He worked for the Benton County Highway Department, retiring in 1983.
He liked fishing, hunting, cars, tending to his bountiful garden, and being surrounded by his family and friends. He was a member of Corvallis Eagles Lodge 3304.
He is survived by his wife Flora Mae; sons Alvin Pugh of Corvallis, Everett Pugh of Jefferson, Loren Cooper of Corvallis, and Mark Pugh of Philomath; daughters Loretta McCaffery, Beverly Pugh, Shirley Hawk, and Sara Sanchez, all of Corvallis, Teresa Jessie Hudnall, Susan Abraham and Elizabeth Hansen, all of Albany, Laurel Horner of California, and Marian Rubio of Philomath; brother Robert Pugh of Coburg; sister Pauline Flock of Kelso, Wash.; and Betty Counts of Sweet Home; 32 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours are at McHenry Funeral Home are from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8, and prior to the funeral, which will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 9, at the McHenry Funeral Home Chapel.
Graveside committal services with military honors will follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens in Albany.
