She was born in rural Scotland County, MO, April 5, 1910, the daughter of Fred and Essie Matlick McPherson.
She married Arthur Lowe on October 1, 1929, and he preceded her in death in 1986.
Freda attended South Liberty grade school in Scotland County and graduated from Rutledge High School as class Valedictorian. She and her husband farmed in Scotland County from 1931 until 1986. She was a member of the Rutledge Christian Church and the Rutledge Chapter #343 Order of the Eastern Star. Freda enjoyed quilting, embroidering, crocheting, and raising flowers.
She is survived by three daughters, Betty Hudson of Frankfort, IN, Carol Bartels and husband, Ernest of Toronto, OH, and Virginia Happel and husband, Marvin of Palmyra, MO; and son, John Lowe and wife, Kathy of LaBelle, MO; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Elaine Balfour of Indianopolis, IN, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Jack McPherson and one in infancy; and two sisters, Edna Mae and Wilma Dean McPherson; and one granddaughter, Teresa Happel.
Services were held August 28, 2006, in the Coder Funeral Chapel with Reverend Allen Davidson officiating. Burial was in the South Bethel Cemetery, north of Rutledge, MO. Memorials may be made to the South Bethel Cemetery Association and may be left at or mailed to the Coder Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 151, LaBelle, MO 63447.
