Frederick Alden Hickok, 88, died peacefully in his sleep Aug. 27, 2005, at an assisted living home in Anchorage after battling cancer for several years. A visitation was held at Anchorage Funeral Home, 1800 Dare Ave. A memorial service was at the ARC of Anchorage, 2211 Arca Drive, followed by a reception. Burial was at Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in Palmer.
Mr. Hickok was born June 12, 1917, to Otto and Bertha Hickok in LeRoy, Minn. He married Lily M. Lehmann on Jan. 2, 1947, in Hot Springs, S.D. She died June 30, 1980. He moved to Alaska on April 18, 1965, to work as an electrician with the federal government in remote areas. He then moved his wife and four children to Anchorage in June 1967. Mr. Hickok married Emily Dismore on Oct. 7, 1982, in Eau Claire, Wis.
He is survived by his wife, Emily; children, Don and Jeanette Hickok and their children, Jeremy and Brad; Nelda and Don Carlson and their children, Jennifer, Trent and Travis; Anita and Jim Busby and their children, Gene, Sara and Staci; and Neil Hickok; brothers, Paul of Oregon and Ross of Texas; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and many great friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife and his brother, Arnold. Arrangements are with Anchorage Funeral Home.
