He served in the Field Hospital in the battle in the Argonne Forest in France. He married Ethel May Burwell (1906-1975) and had four Children: Herbert, Elizabeth (Betty), Raymond and Edward. Edward retired from the New York Central Railroad He was also a member of the Monumental Lodge #374 of the Free and Accepted Masons of Tivoli. He died from Heart disease after a bout with Pneumonia.
