MRS. H. P. BINGAMAN
Sarah Isabel Roberts, daughter of Samuel and Sarah Roberts, was born in Monroe county, Iowa, Jan. 8, 1862, and passed away at the Baker Nursing Home in Chariton on May 11, 1943, at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 3 days. She grew to womanhood in the Oakdale neighborhood and united with the M.E. church when but a young girl.
She was united in marriage to Henry Proctor Bingaman on September 12, 1880, who preceded her in death just seven months ago. To this union 11 children were born, three of whom preceded her in death. Owen died in infancy, Cora about the year of 1918, and Rachel about 10 years ago.
The eight surviving children are Ben Bingaman and Mrs. Rhoda Kintner of Des Moines; Mrs. Elizabeth Harvey, Mrs. Naomi Cornish and Mrs. Marie Haver of Davenport; Chas. Bingaman of Ullin, Ill.; Hazen Bingaman of East St. Louis, Ill.; and Forest Bingaman, of Williamson; 23 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ida Spiker of Chariton and Mrs. Myrtle Carson of Des Moines; and one brother, Tom Roberts of near Columbia, Iowa.
Mrs. Bingaman was a kind and loving wife and mother and will be sadly missed by her relatives and many friends.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Fred E. Miller, were held at 2:30 Thursday afternoon at the Oakdale church and burial was in the Oakdale cemetery.
