Susie May Duke Winterton Andrus, 91, passed away Weds, Nov 12, 1997 at home in Provo, due to natural causes incident to old age.
Susie was born April 10, 1906 in Heber City, Utah, to James Alfred Duke and Janet Gardner. She married Harold Winterton June 11, 1924 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Harold preceded her in death on April 8, 1931. She later married John Ivan Andrus, Dec 23, 1933 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He also preceded her in death on Dec 27, 1982.
Susie received her education in Heber City and at East High in Salt Lake. She made her first home in Charleston, later moved to Benjamin and then to Woodland. After her second marriage, she lived in Marion, Utah and in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. Mrs. Andrus has lived in Provo for the past year. Susie had worked at a care center and managed a hotel in Lava Hot Springs and a managed a motel in Sterling, Utah. She was a member of LDS Church serving in all of the organizations of the church.
Mrs. Andrus requested that instead of buying flowers; family and friends give the money to their favorite charity.
Survivors include Norman Duke Winterton and spouse DeEtte of Roy, Utah; John I. and Margie Andrus, of Hurricane, Utah; Harold Don Winterton and spouse, Laura, of West Valley City, Utah; Mrs. Erma (Keith) Young, of Sterling, Utah; Kenneth D. Andrus and spouse, Colleen, of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho; Mrs. Louise (Bernard) Knapp, of Provo, Utah; Douglas D. Andrus and spouse, Audrey, of Spanish Fork, Utah; and James D. Andrus of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho; 54 grandchildren, 102 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Her daughter, Edith preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 17, 1997, at 11 a.m., at the Bonneville Stake Center, 85 So. 900 East, Provo. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center Street, or Monday morning, at the Stake Center, one hour to services. Interment, Charleston Cemetery.
