GOLDEN CITY - Services were held at 10 a. m. Tuesday, at Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, for Bernard Oscar LeGrand, 77, Golden City, who died at 12:43 p. m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Freeman West, Joplin, after and illness of several months. REV. Lonnie Pennell officiated. Burial was in Newport Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by navy personnel.
Memorial contibutions may be made to the American Cancer Socity or the American Red Cross.
Survivors include, a brother, Bill LeGrand, Lamar, and a sister, Betty Campbell, Pratt, Kan.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Merle Legrand and Warren LeGrand; two half-brothers, Dale Greenlee and Claude LeGrand, and two half-sisters, Dorothy Monger and Ina Bond.
Mr. LeGrand was born March 16, 1923, in Treece, Kan., to Matthew Woodson and Iva Myrtle (Linfoot) LeGrand. He had been a resident of Barton County since 1940. He was a World War II Navy veteran, and was a member of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Golden Agers in Golden City.
He was a farmer, then hauled fertilizer for MFA at Golden City for 15 years.
Died at the age of 77 YRS.
