PRATT—Elizabeth "Betty" Verle Campbell, 90, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at Pratt Health and Rehab. She was born March 13, 1929 on a farm near Afton, Oklahoma, the daughter of Matthew Woodson and Iva Myrtle (Linfoot) LeGrand. On July 3, 1944, she married William "Dub" Hampton Campbell in Girard. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2014.
In 1965, she started a private preschool in their home. Their family room became a school room and they built a fence around the back yard. Betty earned her bachelors degree in Mary 1978 from St. Mary of the Plains through Pratt Community College. In 1984, Betty retired. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Pratt. Betty continued to enjoy working with children in Sunday School classes and other church activities.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Grandmontagne of Palm Springs, California; sons, David (Marcia) Campbell and Steven Campbell of Pratt; granddaughter, Elizabeth (David) Cronister of Pratt; and great grandchildren, Devan James and Allison Jo of Pratt.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, "Dub"; son, Harry Woodson Campbell; brothers, Merle, Bernard, Bill and Warren LeGrand; stepsister, Dorothy Monger.
Friends may sign the book, Tuesday, December 31, 2019 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Larrison Mortuary with John Hamm presiding. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Pratt.
