To this union were born six children who all survive: Mrs. Anna DeFord, Twining; Rev. W. J., Bay City; Urvan U. of Colling, Sherman T. of Detroit; and Charles M. and Vernon of Flint. There are 25 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He also leaves to morn his lose three brothers, Rev. E. A. Cross of Fairhope, Ala; Milton of Colling; and Rev. W. J. of Perry and two sisters, Mrs. Sophronia Earl of Caro and Mrs. R. B. Hare of Unionville. On January 14, 1925, he was united in marriage with Mrs. Mary Oddy of Oxford, she died about a year ago. There were two stepdaughters, Mrs. Bertha Davis of Standish; and Mrs. Edith Clinsmith of Pontiac; besides five step-grandchildren. He died very suddenly of heart failure while in prayer meeting in the Free Methodist Church, Bay City, May 30, 1934 being just 73 years and 20 days old. He was an indulgent father and a good neighbor. He was converted at an early age and joined the Free Methodist Church about 45 years ago of which he remained an acceptable member until his death.
A short service was held at the home of his son in Bay City, conducted by Rev. Mustard, assisted by Rev. A. D. Warren and Rev. M. D. Ormston. The funeral service was held in the Almer Free Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. S. H. Porterfield of Davison. His remains rest beside those of his first wife in the family lot in Almer Cemetery.
