Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of the new First Baptist Church for Joseph C. Bourriague, 82, a native of St. Martinville, La., but a long time Port Neches resident. He died Monday afternoon in St. Mary's Hospital after a lengthy illness.
The Rev. J.C. Clement, pastor of the church officiated and was assited by the Rev. W.E. Hassler, pastor of Sour Lake and former pastor of the local Methodist Church.
Burial was in the Oak Bluff Memorial Park under the direction of Sheffield Funeral Home. Pallbearers were C.C. Fells Sr., Jack Daniels, Conrad Miller, Good Harden, max Braswell and Paul Blanchard.
He is survived by his wife, Beulah and five daughters, Mrs. Earl Blanchard (Irene), Mrs. Elmer Walker (Vivian), Mrs. J.D. Evans (Lillian), and Mrs. John Carnahan (Doroghy), all of Port Neches, and Mrs. Juanita Wade of Joplin, Missouri; four sisters, Mrs. Anita Hunter and Mrs. Lucy Tafona of Dallas, Mrs. Henrietta Deloney of Lake Arthur, La., and Mrs. Alisa Deloney of Lafayette, La.; 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lucille.
