Funeral of George W. Daniels Held in Atlas Thursday
14 May 1935

George Daniels passed away Tuesday, May 14, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Virgil Ogle of Independence, at the age of 82 years, nine months and four days. He had been in failing health for several years and bedfast since Christmas.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church in Atlas at 2 o'clock, Thursday afternoon. Milo Galloway of Pleasant Hill officiating. Music was furnished by Ray Bauer, Ross Burbridge, Arthur Foster and Warren Ranson. Mrs. Ross Burbridge accompanying at the piano. Pall bearers were W. J. Hillman, W. R. Browning, Charles McClintock, Lee Wombles, Neal Rupert and Gus Ogle.

George W. Daniels was the son of John and Rebecca Taylor Daniels and was born August 10, 1852. He was united in marriage to M.S. Welty on Nov. 7, 1872 and to them were born five children, Mattie, Cordelia, Rebecca, Lela and Frank. Only the son Frank of Pleasant Hill survives.

On Jan. 6, 1881, Mr. Daniels was married to Frances Hamner and they became the parents of 11 children, of whom four survive: Alta Brown of Tulare, Calif., Ethel Helkey of Hannibal, Nora Ogle of Independence and Harvey of Milstadt. Also remaining are 25 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; three brothers, Jess of Kingman, Ariz., Henry of Pleasant Hill and Charles of Quincy; one sister Tacy Dyer of Jacksonville: other more distant relatives and a host of friends.

He united with the Atlas Christian church under the preaching of Rev. B. G. Reavis. He lived in Atlas a number of years until the death of his wife on June 29, 1933, since then he made his home with his two daughters, Ethel Helkey of Hannibal and Nora Ogle, at whose home he passed away. He was a good father and husband.
