Noted Hostelry Proprietor Dies. Daniel Corcoran, 72, highly esteemed citizen of the south of the river section, died in Sonora last Sunday afternoon. He had been in poor health for some time but was able to be about attending to his duties at his store at the top of Priest's Grade, and less than a month ago served on a jury in the superior court. For years he conducted the Priest Hotel, in early days known as Priest's Station. In 1926, this well known stopping place was burned to the ground, and since then he has carried on a general store on the famous spot, which the Priests made noted -- a reputation. Mr. Corcoran maintained during its existence.
His funeral was held from his late residence at Priest's Station Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock under the direction of the Burden Company, Rev. Porter C. Knudson of the Sonora Methodist Church officiating. Interment was in the Cemetery on the Divide.
He leaves a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Anker of Eureka, and four brothers, John and William Corcoran of Deer Flat, and Thomas and Edward Corcoran of San Francisco.
