Catherine Agnes Hines was born in Galway, Ireland, the daughter of Martin Hines and Catherine Sweeney. The family immigrated to Louisiana in 1849 where she met and married John J Corcoran. John and Catherine had fled the Mississippi area to avoid the Yellow Fever, settling Tuolumne County, California. There, they had the following children:

Catherine died at the home of her daughter Kitty Blair, 320 South Ophir Street, Stockton. She had been in poor health for some time, death came suddenly and unexpectedly.
