George Eugene Heflin, 86, retired farmer, died at 10 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Hospital. He was a resident of Oak Haven Home. Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the White Rock Church in Shelby County. The Rev. Virgil Potter is to conduct the rites and burial is to be in the White Rock Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Rains-Talley and Cothron Funeral Home. His grandsons are to serve as pallbearers. A native of Nacogdoches County, he was born on June 1, 1880, the son of Ruff Lafayette Heflin and Mrs. Lucinda Campbell Heflin. He was a member of the Nesbitt Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. J. O. Chandler, Kirbyville; and Mrs. Lester Fowler, Shongaloo, La.; two sons, Hayden Heflin and Alton Heflin, both of Marshall; one sister, Mrs. Lula Head, Longview; 13 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
