Walter Lowerre of Middetown NY, died on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at O.R.M.C. Horton Campus Middletown, N.Y. He was 94.

The son of the late Charles and Bertha Swarthout Lowerre, he was born on May 3, 1913 in Middletown. Walter spent his lifetime in Orange County; he was a past grand officer of the Greene-Ulster Eastern Star and a member of Hoffman Masonic Lodge. Walter was the last surviving charter member of the Circleville Fire Department, past captain of the Circleville Fire Police, and a member of both the Orange County Volunteer Fire Association and the Brotherhood of Carpenters, Local 19.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Doris, at home; one son, Richard and his wife Carrie; two daughters, Patricia Lambach of Brooksville, FL, and Barbara Piper of Wurtsboro; and seven granchildren, Lori, Nancy, Ann, Vivian, June, Patrick and Andrew and seven great-grandchildren, and one nephew, Carl Bomgardner.

Walter was predeceased by his first wife, Olive Cordier; two sisters, Edith Aschoff and Alberta Bomgardner; one brother, Winford, and one great-grandchild, Jacob.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 6, from 7-9 p.m. at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, N.Y. The Order of the Eastern Star and the Hoffman Masonic Lodge will hold services at 7:30 and 8 p.m. respectively. At 8:30 p.m., Garett Vandershaff and the Circleville Fire Department will conduct a Funeral Service of remembrance at the funeral home.

Cremation will be private, at the convenience of the family.
