In his younger years, he was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying trout fishing, hunting, boating, water skiing and snowmobiling with close friends and family.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife Carrie, his sister Patricia, his step-sons Trey (Yris) and grandchildren J.P. and Samantha, as well as Jonathan (Hannah) and grandchildren Juliet and Patrick. Richard is also survived by his goddaughters Vivian and June, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, as well as extended members of the McGowan family. He was pre-deceased by his first wife of 39 years, Patricia McGowan Lowerre and his sister Barbara Piper of Wurtsboro, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 am at the Community Church of Wurtsboro on Monday, December 5th, burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Middletown, NY.
