HOWARD R. LAYNE SR., 59, OF SISSONVILLE, died Saturday, May 30, 1992, in Huntington Veterans Administration Medical Center after a short illness. He was a retired coal miner and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Sissonville VFW Post 3066 and a Protestant

Surviving: son, Howard R. Jr. of Chicago; daughters, Cathy Whaley of Griffithsville, Ark., Connie L. Casto of Sissonville; brothers, Harry and Gilbert, of Charleston; sister, Reba Robinson of Charleston; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Haynes officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be in Layne Cemetery, Kanawha Two Mile, Charleston.
