"Capt. Joseph Brady was born in Chester County, Pennsylvania. His parents were residents of New London Township, Chester County, PA from 1732 thru 1740. His father, Hugh Brady, paid taxes and purchased land, which all state he was a resident of Chester County, during the years 1732 thru 1740."

From the Probate records of Cumberland County, PA the following is filed with his Will (note that the. year on the original is written in longhand): "Be it remembered that on the twenty second day of June in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred & Eighty Seven the last Will & Testament of Joseph Brady dec'd was legally proved of which the foregoing record is a true copy and Letters Testamentary Issued in Common form to Mary Brady wid of the dec'd the day & year last Aforesaid. Inventory & account to be exhibited into the Register's Office in the Borough of Carlisle in the time appointed by law. Witness my Hand William.
