Son of "Pioneer" Hugh Brady and Hannah _____ (McCormick?)

Husband of Jane Irwin / Erwin
(Married 1772.)

Ebenezer BRADY, Esq. was the eighth of nine children of Pioneer Hugh* and Hannah (McCormick?) BRADY. Listed year of birth of 1750 is from the book "Brady Annals".

He was married December 1772 in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania to Jane IRWIN/ERWIN, daughter of John IRWIN/ERWIN (Abt. 1730 - 1774) and Martha (Unknown Maiden Name) of Peters Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Together Ebenezer and Jane had nine (9) children: Hugh, Martha, John, Mary, Drusilla, Susanna/Susan, Sarah/Sallie(?), William P., and Ebenezer Jr.

Ebenezer's exact place of burial -- and that of his wife Jane -- have never been definitively proven. In 1934, the Dept of Military Affairs of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania listed Ebenezer's burial place as "Old Fairfield Cemetery, Fairfield Township, Westmoreland County" (Pennsylvania). This following a Memorial Day 1932 SAR ceremony at Old Fairfield Cemetery which honored 13 named patriots (including Ebenezer Brady and brother-in-law Archibald Hanna). However, so far there are no church records or other documents to substantiate this place of burial and no headstone has been located anywhere. Discussions and visits with historians and researchers of Westmoreland County Historical Society (2016 - 2017) would seem to indicate that Ebenezer and wife Jane were likely BOTH buried on his land (graves co-located) in the local area at that early date (1800 - 1810). At the time of his death, Ebenezer owned considerable land, as indicated by Pennsylvania land records (Indiana County AND Westmoreland County) and his will and probate records with Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.

*IF* Ebenezer and Jane were buried in an actual cemetery, CAMP FAIRFIELD would be a logical choice as it is one of the older cemeteries, in a nearby location to Ebenezer's land (within 10 miles of property at headwaters of Tubmill Creek), and has graves for many extended family members, friends, neighbors, and associates. No gravestone transcription for Ebenezer or Jane is included in the listings for Camp Fairfield Cemetery (done 1998). In-person, hours long search of this cemetery by 4GGranddaughter Elizabeth Brady in spring 2019 and fall 2020 found no headstones for Ebenezer or Jane.

Another cemetery choice might be Fort Palmer Cemetery in Westmoreland County on Route 711. Again, no headstones seem to exist there for Ebenezer or wife Jane (multiple visits and searches).

In the mid-1930s, family researcher B. Edna Koch also considered Bethel Church Cemetery in Indiana County. But no family of Ebenezer + Jane seem to be buried there either.

Substantial research -- spanning decades -- focused on this family line of the Hugh & Hannah Brady family has been conducted by Dr. Allen Brady, direct descendant (3rd-Great-Grandson) of Ebenezer Brady, Esq. Further details available at his website

or at his publicly viewable Ancestry family tree "Ebenezer Brady Family Tree" member name "allenhbrady".

This grave detail has been lovingly created and will be maintained by Dr. Allen Brady's daughter Elizabeth, 4th-Great-Granddaughter of Ebenezer and Jane (Irwin/Erwin) Brady.

NOTE: Original memorial creator attached this grave to West Fairfield Cemetery which is not the best choice for these two c. 1804 graves. I have made correction to Camp Fairfield after considerable review of all details. (eb 9/3/20) (Edited 7/23/21)
