OBITUARY--The Janesville Gazette, Janesville, Wisconsin
Lester A. Schweitzer, age 72, died Fri., Apr. 23, 1999, at home.
He was born Mar. 27, 1927, in Barrington, Ill., the son of Albert G. and Rose M. (Potter) Schweitzer. He was married Nov. 25, 1961 in Oak Park, Ill. to Margaret Bridges. Lester attended school in Chicago. His fond memories of Wisconsin were his stays at Holiday Home Camp and visits to the Williams Bay area where he resided for over 32 years. Lester had gone to a branch ministry called the Clybourn Gospel Center. Following high school, he enlisted in the Merchant Marines and was drafted into the Army during WWII. Lester worked in Aerial Maintenance and worked at the Pennsylvania Railroad as a Fireman-Engineer and then Hubbard Milling Company until his retirement in 1993.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Schweitzer of Delavan; 2 daughters, Ruth (Jay) Richter of Lake Geneva, and Linda Schweitzer of Florida; 2 sons, John and Albert Schweitzer both of Maryland; a grandson Andrew Richter; and a sister, Laura Schweitzer of Whitewater. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dan, and a sister, Terry Payne.
Memorial services will be held on Mon., Apr. 25, 1999, at 1:00 P.M. from Calvary Community Church. D. Howard Matson will officiate. Burial will be private. Toynton's Walworth Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. The family requests that memorials be made to Calvary Community Church or the VNA Hospice.
He was a loving father and a friend to many. He was generous and always lent a helping hand. Lester was a gardener, bird and nature lover.
