Fred Gardner Sr.,
Ill 3 Years, Dies


Fred L. Gardner Sr., 1216 North East street, died at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday at Fairview sanatorium after an illness of three
years.
He was born in Villisca, Ia., June 4, 1903, the son of Samuel and Orphia Gardner. He came to Bloomington at the age of 5 and had resided here since that time.
Mr. Gardner married Emma Stuart in Bloomington in 1922. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by his three children, Doris, a student nurse at Mennonite hospital; Fred L. Jr., serving in the navy; and Emma Lou, 214 North Mason street, and three brothers and sisters, G.E. Gardner, 206 Union street, Mrs. Leta Winstead, 106½ North Gridley street; and Mrs. G.I. Baldwin, 216 North East street where he made his home.
He was a member of the First United Brethren church.
The body was taken to Murray's funeral home and will be taken to his home Thursday afternoon. The funeral will be Saturday, the hour and place to be announced later.
