Car Owner, Dies
Jasper Gardner, former service car operator in Cape Girardeau, dies Sunday of a liver disorder. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. F. L. Willshire of McKendree Methodist Church of Jackson this morning. Since October Gardner, who was 61 years old, had lived at the County Home, and the service was held at the chapel there. Burial was in the cemetery nearby.
Gardner had resided in this county 15 hears, operating service cars for a long time. Among the longer trips he made were ones on which he transported Teachers College and high school basketball and football teams. Prior to 1939 he roomed for several years at the Henry C. Fairchild residence, 131 North Pacific street.
He was not married. Surviving relatives include a brother at Valiscia, Ia.; and two sisters and his step-mother, at Bloomington, Ill.
