Mr. Appleby was born February 4, 1855 Climer, New York. He received his education at Jamestown High School and later Fredonia Normal Institute.
He owned a photograph shop in Jamestown. In 1882 he moved to Freeport, Pa and engaged in the same business. In the same year he married Carrie Cook. In 1885 they moved to Tarentum and followed in the photo business. He was Tarentum tax collector for 12 years.
In 1901 he engaged in the shoe business, he had this at the time of his death. He was a member of the M.E. Methodist Church and a member of the K.O.T.M..
He is survived by his wife and the following children, Mable, Clarence, Nellie, Grace, Helen, and James. 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
