Mrs. Appleby, whose maiden name was Cook, had been a resident of Tarentum for 38 years and was one of the best known women of the community.
She was a devout member of the First M.E. church of Tarentum, being active in all its departments.
She leaves six children: Mrs. J. M. Hess, of Natrona Heights; Mrs. Sidney Menk, of Parnassus; Mrs. Lewis Earl [Helen B.] Waltenbaugh, of North Canton, Ohio, and Miss Nell, at home; two sons, Clarence, of Tarentum, and James, at home. Eight grandchildren also survive.
Funeral plans will be announced later.
