Nancy "Nannie" Melvina (Heisler) Walker was the second daughter of William H. and Mary Ann (Harford) Heisler. She was born and raised in Baltimore before moving with her family to Philadelphia in about 1881. Nannie was named for her mother's favorite sister.

She married William Zed Walker on 14 Apr 1882 in the rectory of the Church of the Redemption in Philadelphia. She remained in Philadelphia for the rest of her life.

She and William Z had nine known children:
