John Wesley Parr, 80, died unexpectedly yesterday in his home at West Eldorado street. Born July 13, 1870, in Anglaizo [sic] county, Ohio, he was a son of John and Ellen Parr. He came here 40 years ago from Argenta.
Mr. Parr was a retired carpenter and contractor. He married Harriett Strope Nov. 30, 1892, here.
Besides his wife he leaves four daughters, Mrs. D. A. Armstrong, Mrs. E. R. Hitt and Mrs. Gladys Bolen, all of Decatur, and Mrs. C. D. Majors of Champaign; one son, Wesley of St. Louis; five sisters, Mrs. Ernest White, Mrs. Homer Walker, Mrs. Walter Lukenbill and Mrs. P. H. Hilbrant, all of Argenta, and Mrs. E. R. Evey of Clinton; two brothers, Harry and Joe of Decatur; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Services in the Dawson & Wikoff funeral home chapel. Burial in Friends Creek cemetery near Argenta.
