Alvada (Vada) was born on July 12, 1920 to Luther Lee and Dallie All in Summerville, South Carolina. She married Jesse Phillip (Phil) Ward. Vada passed away at the age of 85 on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 in Arlington, Texas. She lived most of her life in Houston, Texas. After the death of her husband of 54 years, she moved to Arlington to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Vada loved baseball, horses, gardening, bird watching and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Vada was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Lee and Dallie All; her husband, Jesse Phillip Ward; one son, Jesse Lee Ward, and two sisters, Sybil Holland Kahn and Thelma LaTorre.

She was survived by son, Roger Alan Ward of Tacoma, Washington; daughter, Dena Dean and husband Tom of Arlington; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters, Enid Kilpatrick of Charleston, S.C., Edith Crosby and husband, Cruth of Walterboro, S.C., and Grace Harman of Ocala, Fla.; brother, John All and wife, Marie of Mount Pleasant, S.C.

A celebration of Vada's life was held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at First Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas. Burial was Saturday in Forest Park Westheimer in Houston, preceded by a service at their Mausoleum Chapel at 10 a.m.
