John Luther All, Sr., of Mt. Pleasant, SC, husband of Marie Downs All, died July 29, 2013.

Born December 4, 1923 in Summerville, SC, he was the son of the late Luther and Dallie Woodard All.

John graduated from St. Andrews High School and was a 1949 graduate of the Citadel.

He enjoyed a life-long journalism career with the then Charleston Evening Post as a Systems Editor. John was instrumental in establishing one of the first computer systems at the newspaper.

Following his graduation, John served in WWII completing his service to his country as a Sgt. in the U.S. Army.

John was devoted to his wife of 59 years, the former Marie Downs. Together they raised three children.

Mr. All was the youngest paid musician in Charleston with a long standing musical career. He authored "A Stately Heritage" a history of the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church. His family remembers him as an unconditionally loving husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his wife, Marie, John will be deeply missed by: his daughters, Kristi All Reagor (Randy) of James Island, SC, Stephanie All Goodwin (Bobby) of Charleston; son, John "Chip" Luther All, Jr. (Tysh) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; former daughters-in-law, Kathy Tomassello (Joe) of Charlotte, NC and Kelly Van Fleet (Mark) of Ellicott City, MD. John was a special grandfather "Grundy" to his precious grandchildren: Shane Goodwin, Mason All, Adin All, and Ava Reagor. John will also be missed by his sisters: Enid Kilpatrick of Charleston; Edith Crosby of Walterboro, SC and Grace Harmon of Ocala, FL.

He was predeceased by sisters: Sybil Hahn; Thelma LaTorre; and Alvada Ward.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 PM, August 1, 2013, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, August 2, 2013, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 604 Pitt Street, Mt. Pleasant, SC with burial following at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. A reception will be held in his honor immediately following the burial at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home.
