Lorena had lived all her life in her home on D street in the District of Columbia. She started working for the Bureau of Supplies and Accounts in April 1917, and would have celebrated her 40th anniversary there in spring of 1957. She was one of the first women to enlist as a yoemanette in World War I.
She was the daughter of the late Ceylon M. and Johanna O'Brien Boswell. At the time of her death, she left behind six brothers and sisters, Camille V., Ceylon T., H. Curley, William H., Mrs. Marguerite C. Stewart, and Mrs. Elizabeth L. Barnette. She was predeceased by three sisters, Mrs. Katherine Loughran, Mrs. Florence Smith, and Marie Boswell who died in infancy.
Rear Admiral Ralph J. Arnold, chief of the Bureau of Supplies and Accounts, served as an honorary pallbearer, along with Rear Admiral Thomas L. Becknell, Jr., Rear Admiral Aubrey J. Bourgeois, Capt. Lee Kimball, P. P. Brown and Stone Leizear.
