GITTINGER RITES HELD
Burke Gittinger, 95, a former Chariton businessman, died unexpectedly at his home in San Antonio, Tex. on April 29.
He moved to Texas in the early 1940's and made his home there until his death.
A memorial service was held in San Antonio on May 1 with the Rev. Dr. Ryan of the First Presbyterian Church of San Antonio officiating. His ashes were buried in the Russell Cemetery on May 29 in a family service with the Rev. Wauneita McConnell officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Isabel; a sister, Mabel of Branson, Mo. and three children by his former wife, Ruth Yengel: two daughters, Betty of Oceanside, Calif. and Caroline Ruck, of Hollister, Mo.; and a son, Leonard and his wife, Edith of Hollister, Mo.
