She was, in fact, born in the town of Buck Creek, in Gallia County, OH., in 1814. However today that area is located in Lawrence County, OH. Her father was Daniel Nance, Jr. (b. 1790 in Mecklenburg Co., VA. d. before 1840 presumably in Lawrence Co., OH.)

Her mother was Lavina Kingery (b. abt. 1793 in Ferrum, Franklin Co., VA. d. 1850 in Mason Twp., Lawrence Co., OH.)

Delana "Lany" Nance was married, on June 6, 1833 to Reason Vermillion Powell, in Lawrence County, OH. They had eight known children: Angeline Frances Powell, Cynthia Catherine Powell (my ancestor), James Reason Powell, Lucinda Pricy Powell, Henry Archimedes Powell, Sarah Jane Powell, Mary L. Powell, and Esmarilda Essie Powell.
