Maggie Mae Dunavant, 87, of Caruthersville died Monday, November 22, 1999, at the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti. She was born March 3, 1912, in Caruthersville, the daughter of the late Harry and Ophelia Downing Cunningham.
Dunavant was a school teacher and taught for 44 years. She married George Dunavant on November 5, 1933, in Caruthersville. He preceded her in death on February 20, 1999.
Survivors include three brother-in-laws, Alvin Dunavant of Caruthersville, Hubert Dunavant of Jonesboro, Ark. and LeRoy Davis of California, and several nephews and nieces.
Services were held Friday, November 26, 1999, 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Caruthersville, with Rev. James Adams and Rev. John Earl Dunavant officiating. Interment was held in the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville.
