Wayne C. Appleby, 73, of Ryde, died in the Lewistown Hospital at 4 o'clock Thursday morning, August 24, 1967, after a lengthly illness. Appleby was born at Neelyton, Huntingdon County, September 11, 1893, a son of the late George and Mary (Carner) Appleby. He is survived by his wife, the former Gretta Kimberly; two sons, Gerald Appleby of Lewistown, R.D. 1, and George Appleby of Shippensburg; three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Gene) Johnson of Blue Ridge Summit, Franklin County, Mrs. Russell (Marjorie) Bard of Lewistown R.D. 2, and Mrs. Lester (Mary) Moist of Elizabethtown; a sister, Mrs. Blair (Blanche) Miller of Ryde; 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Appleby was a trackman for the Pennsylvania Railroad for 43 years, retiring in 1951.
