Marjorie “Marge” Frances Bard, 86, of Lewistown, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at home.

She was born Oct. 1, 1930, in Ryde, to the late Wayne Casner Appleby and N. Greta (Kimberly) Appleby. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Russel ” Edd” Bard; two brothers, Gerald and George Appleby; and a sister, Gene Johnson. Surviving are her children: Bryan Bard and wife, Valarie, of Hardy Neb., Keith Bard and wife, Ellie, of Portage, Gregg Bard and wife, Mary, of Elizabethtown and Ann Bard Myers and husband, Tom, of Lewisberry; seven grand- children, Emma, Benjamin and Rebecca Bard, Elizabeth Blazick, James and Marie Bard and Matthew Myers; one great-grandson, Henry Blazick; and a sister, Mary Moist, of Elizabethtown.

Marge was a 1948 graduate of Mount Union High School and a 1951 graduate of Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at Lewistown Hospital as a registered nurse her entire career. She attended Lake Park and Trinity United Methodist churches. Marge was a talented cook and home- maker. She made beautiful clothing and quilts for her family and was a past member of the Juniata Valley Quilters Guild. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She always made time to help friends and neighbors and will be missed by all who had a chance to know her.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Randy Traxler officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Interment will be held in German Valley Cemetery, Shirleysburg.
